Collection: Wool

Check out our lovely collection of rovings! Each braid is hand dyed in house. All of our wool rovings are sold in approximately 4oz braids unless noted otherwise. At KnitzAndPearls Fiberworks, we take pride in how each braid produced here is lofty, airy, and easy to draft. We currently carry the following wool bases: 

1) 100% Extrafine Merino - 19.5 micron, dreamy soft and squishy. The staple length is approximately 2.75 inches. 

2) 100% Blue-Faced Leicester - BFL is a British luster longwool, 25-27 microns, staple length 4 ¼ inches. The fiber feels finer than the micron count would suggest. This is one of our airiest, loftiest rovings.

3) 100% Mixed Blue-Faced Leicester - This BFL is a 75/25 blend of natural white wool with natural brown wool streaked throughout to allow for more creativity in the dyeing process. Its staple length and micron facts are the same as above.

4) 100% Rambouillet - This wool is sourced in the United States, and has a staple length of approximately 3 inches, with a 21.5 micron count. This is one of our most popular bases for its luscious bounciness and its 'smooth like butter' finished spin.

5) 100% New Zealand Romney - This 35 micron wool has a much more traditionally 'wooly' feel to it, while still retaining our signature airiness to the braid. It has a staple length of 4 inches.
